You're the perfect
You're the great
You're the humble
You're the saint
We've been lyin’ here
And we've been sheddin’ tears
You're the sun, you're the sun
We'll revolve around the one
Ordained by those in charge
We see you sitting large
God exists when I call
Take what you want from all
Back down and out of sight
Cause this American dream
Is not for you, it's not
It's a lock on the box
There's a bar on the door
Back down and out of sight Cause this American dream
Is not for you, it's not
God forbid we live, Can’t afford to die
All we have to give, No way to deny
My eternal gift , Burning in my eyes
All my thoughts adrift, Listen only lies
It's a scam it's a sham
Use a shell for a spell
Use who I can trust
Makin’ dollar boom or bust
See my lawyer for the why
Reframe it
Then game it
Then charge you interest
In the name of
God exists when I call
Take what you want from all
Back down and out of sight
Cause this American dream
Is not for you, it's not
It's a lock on the box
There's a bar on the door
Back down and out of sight
Cause this American dream
Is not for you, it's not
No apologies, Can’t apologize, Easy to believe, No way to disguise
All that you receive, Tears the angels cry, Stricken with disease, All that you despise
Burning in my brain, kill the beast inside, in this life of pain, suffer from your pride
Gluttony and greed, All you can desire, Everything you need, then we all expire
Red and blue states in a black and white world pay attention what you see is what you get
The image of accomplishment is just an illusion urban quicksand never ending debt
The resurrection of monoliths, where used to stand projects all familiar faces are gone
Now there's paper millionaires looking like I don't belong in the city I was born this is wrong
God exists when I call
He told me yesterday
Take what you want from all
I'm busy anyway
Back down and out of sight
Cause this American dream
Is not for you it's not
It's a lock on the box
It's what our parents prayed for
There's a bar on the door
We won't allow it anymore
Back down and out of sight
Cause this American dream
Is not for you, it's not
No apologies, Can’t apologize, Easy to believe, No way to disguise
All that you receive, Tears the angels cry, Stricken with disease, All that you despise
Burning in my brain, kill the beast inside, in this life of pain, suffer from your pride
Gluttony and greed, All you can desire, Everything you need, then we all expire

Before Anthrax collaborated with Public Enemy, before Rage Against The Machine tore up the DNC convention, and before Limp Bizkit shredded Woodstock, there was a band called Mordred from the Bay Area of San Francisco, California that started it all.
Quite a departure from the wild territories they ventured into with their major label releases. So far, the greatest thrash metal I've heard released in the 2020's. Plus, it's not everyday you hear Rhea Perlman on a metal record. t0cktock
Buying before listening. A friend just told me he heard it and liked it, and I was not aware they had released anything new since ‘93. Gotta show my support for Bay Area thrash metal.
Their 1988 debut Eternal Nightmare is one of the best thrash albums to come out of the original scene. Their ‘later’ stuff didn’t have the punch of the debut, largely due to the vocals, the merits of which are debated to this day. I’m in the LOVE THE FUCKING DEBUT VOCALS camp.
Let’s see what they’ve done now… Lute FP
The metal’s band revelatory new record crosses genres and styles, effortlessly combining seemingly incompatible subgenres. Bandcamp Album of the Day Apr 26, 2024
